Since starting with Mr Laverty last year I have noticed a substantial improvement in my son’s writing and the clarity of his speaking (e.g. debating and oral presentations). There has also been a notable increase in his confidence. Anh now uses more advanced vocabulary choices in his persuasive tasks and analytical essays. They have become more formal and engaging. My son has also developed his creative writing, with his description and imagery skills improving greatly.

I would highly recommend Mr Laverty as an online English tutor. Learning English is an on-going process and with the right level of support, children will further advance in English. Communication is key. I believe the earlier the children start their learning journey, the better off they are later on in life.

I would recommend Tutor Me Online as it’s simply an amazing way of getting your child to learn english skills and for them to grow in an English-speaking society.

Leanne Johnson recommend Tutor Me Online
Our son, Oscar, is keen to become a pilot and needs good grades to achieve this. As parents it is important that Oscar has a good understanding of the English subject matter so he can have the confidence in life in being able to write, speak and present material for various occasions.
It was clear that our attempts to coach and encourage Oscar were not working for us nor Oscar, therefore we sought out Bernard’s help. We have noted various changes in the following areas...
★ Recently awarded an A+ for a poetry / creative writing task.
★ As a result of this, Oscar has now improved from a borderline C to a strong B+.
★ Improvement in confidence and far less dismissing the value of English as a subject that is ‘of no value’
★ Improvement in spelling, vocabulary use and sentence construction.
We would highly recommend Tutor Me Online as it gets results by building student’s confidence and getting your child to listen and learn when they do not want to listen and learn from their parents.

My daughter struggled with English throughout her schooling. During year 11 and 12 we decided to get Bernard to tutor her. This was a great decision as she achieved great results which has given her many options for higher education and her self confidence has grown. Thank you Bernard for your persistence, understanding and patience. I would highly recommend Bernard’s services to other parents.

We would highly recommend Tutor Me Online. Even after just a few sessions Joe’s results have improved. More importantly his confidence and attitude towards his work has boosted 100%. He is proud of the work he is presenting. Tutor Me Online provides excellent mentoring. They understand the special challenges that year 9 brings. Cooper’s mum, Jackie highly recommends Tutor Me Online
Bernard is an outstanding tutor. He tutored my son for Year 11 and 12 English. The sessions over Skype worked brilliantly. Bernard tailors each session to the needs of the student. His methods are both engaging and encouraging. He is also a great mentor and can relate to both male and female students (Bernard also tutored my daughter through her Senior English). When your kids come out of their session de-stressed and prepared for their assessment it is a huge relief for all. Bernard comes with my highest recommendation.

Once I started my first university semester, I knew I still required help with my essay writing. I found the assignments incredibly daunting and very different from the Year 12 papers I had written previously.

So, I reached out to Bernard again, hoping he could work his ‘English God’ knowledge into my paper. To no surprise, he was able to help with proofreading, grammar, structure, academic referencing, argumentative analysis and extending my vocabulary range. In addition to the short turn arounds for drafting which was greatly appreciated!

With his help I was able to achieve two distinctions in my International Relations major, which is a testament to Bernard’s help. I will always recommend Tutor Me Online without hesitation.

Bernard goes above and beyond for his students, always offering the best advice he can, being easy to relate to and giving us important knowledge that we can apply to future pieces of work.

It was amazing how I came across Mr Laverty. I’d been struggling with my language analysis. I always get 6/10. Being an African migrant who cannot afford English Tutoring, I was just looking for someone to read my work and mark it for me with feedback. I was surprised when Mr Laverty decided to help me out. I got 8.5/10. And he went ahead to make sure I understood the feedback he sent me. I will recommend him to anyone struggling with English. Such a kind man.

online english tutor
I have always loved certain aspects of literature (e.g. poetry, Shakespeare and certain novels). However, I seemed to struggle a lot with proofreading and expressing ideas clearly and succinctly. These weaknesses also leaked into my other subjects including ancient history and drama. At the beginning of Year 11, I decided that I wanted to pursue either a Bachelor of International Affairs or a Bachelor of Criminology. These particular degrees required an OP score of 8, at the University of Queensland (St. Lucia Campus). After many discussions with both parents and teachers I opted for the Bachelor of International Affairs. Seeing as my chosen degree required an extensive knowledge of literature, both my Mum and I decided it would be best to find an English tutor near me.

During our online sessions, Mr Laverty would show me how to interpret certain texts and pieces of literature. I was always amazed at his breadth of knowledge when it came to certain texts and novels that I was studying. Spending time with Mr Laverty really helped me to understand difficult concepts within English literature. Through his help I was able to find significant improvement in my expression of ideas and also in ensuring that my assessments were both clear and concise. With Mr Laverty’s help I was able to achieve an ATAR score of 94.00, and English was ranked as my second highest subject.

Mr Laverty goes above and beyond for each of his students and is easy to relate to. But the part that I have always appreciated the most about his sessions was his willingness to take time out of his day to offer both advice and suggestions on a variety of English assessments. There is no doubt in my mind that I would recommend Mr Laverty as an online tutor to anyone who is seeking to improve their English skills.

Mr Laverty has been my English tutor throughout Year 12 in 2018. The skills he has taught me were invaluable during our sessions including vocabulary expansion, sentence structure and task management. He helped me to be more organised when I felt overwhelmed by my Year 12 studies. I was also often amazed by his breadth of knowledge, as he understands and knows about current issues and background knowledge of the novels and texts that I was studying. These fundamental and essential knowledges are often taught at school and spending time with Mr Laverty makes it easier to learn the difficult concepts in a text. Overall, working with Mr Laverty has been the highlight of my English studies.

I’ve had a few tutors throughout high school for English, but without a doubt in my mind, Mr Laverty has been the best out of them all. While being smart, inquisitive and helpful during sessions, the part I appreciated the most was the behind the scenes work, in which he corrected and offered suggestions on a multitude of essays and notes. I would highly recommend Mr Laverty for all people who wish to be successful in the study of English.

Rylee has graduated a bachelor degree thanks to Tutor Me Online
In 2015 I was lucky enough to be tutored by Bernard Laverty for my Senior OP English class. I believe that the productivity I achieved in an hour session with Mr Laverty by my side translated to 8 hours’ worth on my own. Bernard Laverty was able to not only assist with my sentence structure and basic English skills but also with the variety of essays across all my interests. He went above and beyond to help me with my various endeavours and goals and was easy to relate too.

This year I graduate with a Bachelor of Entertainment Industries at Queensland University of Technology. This course has been a testament to the variety of subjects Bernard Laverty had assisted me with including the exploration of a range of subjects such as Marketing, Project Management and Entertainment Law in an arts context. The combination of these skills will pave a career in producing and management which has already led to experience on music videos. I still aim to pursue my passions of travel and cultural understanding to stories from different perspectives. Last year I attended an international study tour with QUT where I worked at MIPTV (Cannes, France) and had met and networked with screen industry professional across France and England. This year I have been selected as a recipient of the NCP (New Colombo Plan) scholarship to study and attend an immersive cultural tour in India through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. I hope to further my skills in an arts context and understanding of different cultural perspectives and am excited to see where it takes me next.

Jarvis is now studying a bachelor of nursing thanks to Tutoe Me Online teaching good foundations.
I would highly recommend Mr Laverty. I was a past student of Proserpine State High School where my English skills were of a low standard. It was Mr Laverty’s teaching skills that allowed me to excel in this subject. Mr Laverty always has his students best interests at heart, offering tutoring sessions to students who could not grasp the concepts of English. Mr Laverty designed his classroom and content for his students making it engaging and interesting. I believe if I did not take the advantage of Mr Laverty’s tutoring sessions I would certainly not be where I am today. Further allowing me to achieve an OP where I was later accepted into University. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Nursing Science where I am achieving high results, and I have incorporated foundations on which Mr Laverty taught me.

Tutor Me Online has guided Cooper’s English knowledge skills.
Throughout my schooling I’ve always struggled in my study of secondary English, especially in the areas of expression, starting sentences, structuring essays, proofreading, spelling and knowledge of literature. By the end of Year 10, I was at a crossroads as to whether I wanted to pursue an electrical trade or an Engineering degree at university. This particular degree required an ATAR of 90 for entry into the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) at the University of Queensland (St Lucia) campus. After many discussions we decided on the university pathway. I initially looked for a tutor near me, but my Mum ended up contacting Mr Laverty as he had previously been my sister’s English tutor.

My Mum purchased the one-hour comprehensive package sessions through Skype. During these online tutoring sessions Mr Laverty showed me how to avoid repetition within sentences and demonstrated how to improve my editing and proofreading skills. I really enjoyed how he modelled essay prompt responses with a strong focus on crafting contention statements and supporting arguments. Mr Laverty also outlined the importance of consistent reading to improve my English skills and suggested that I read ‘Bear Grylls’ as it matched my interests to the outdoors. Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down! In one particular online lesson, we covered feature articles and how bias is used to persuade audiences. Mr Laverty sourced an article on ‘State of Origin’ which I found easy to engage with as I love Rugby League! Over time, I noticed that both my spelling and grammar improved significantly which was then reflected in my grades. From Year 11 to Year 12, I went from a (C- to a B+) overall and received an (A-) on two of my final assessment pieces.

Mr Laverty’s lessons were always positive and engaging, I really enjoyed his worksheets that he modified and was impressed by his knowledge of current events. We always reflected on what I had learnt and how I could implement these skills when it came to writing my own assessments. Without Mr Laverty’s online tutoring I wouldn’t have been able to achieve the ATAR that I needed to gain entry into my Engineering degree at UQ. Mr Laverty has been an incredible mentor and I thoroughly enjoyed his passion and enthusiasm for English! I would highly recommend him if you require an online tutor!
